Family Reconciled To Support Elderly Parent
Mr C, in his 60s, divorced his wife when their children, A and J, were adults. He later found another female companion, but his children did not approve of his choice. Gradually, Mr C grew distant from his children and he lost contact with them.
Unable to support himself, Mr C approached the Office of the Commissioner for the Maintenance of Parents (CMP) to seek maintenance support from his children. CMP initiated conciliation with A and J. They reconnected with Mr C and after learning about his predicament, agreed to support him with $500 per month. They also resumed visiting him.
He was happy with the outcome and glad that his children were back in his life.
