Update on Megan Khung's Case – Actions Taken by All Agencies to be Further Reviewed

Type: Press Releases

Topic(s): Protection from Domestic Violence

1.          On 8 April 2025, MSF issued a Statement on the lessons learnt from past child abuse cases over the decade. It was with the intention to identify areas where we can strengthen interventions to keep our children safe.

2.          Since then, we have received feedback that the Statement may have come across as implying that certain parties could have done more to avoid the tragic death of Megan Khung. In fact, our aim is to continually strengthen our system, so that we can better protect our children. Everyone, including government agencies, has a part to play in this process.

3.          We will therefore carry out a further review on Megan’s case. This will cover the responses of all parties -- from the preschool and social service agency to the Early Childhood Development Agency, Child Protective Service and the Police. It will include additional information that Beyond Social Services, the social service agency affiliated to the preschool attended by Megan, had shared with us after our Statement was issued. Once the review is done, the conclusions will be published.

4.          We deeply appreciate the tireless efforts of all social service professionals who work to protect children from abuse and save lives. We will continue to work closely with all our partners in the child protection ecosystem to uphold the safety and well-being of every child.
