Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang asked the Minister for Social and Family Development in each of the past five years (a) what is the number of child protection investigations made by the Child Protective Services; and (b) how many and what percentage of the investigations are the children or young persons determined to have been abused or neglected by their parents or caregivers.

Answer

The number of investigations carried out by MSF’s Child Protective Service (CPS) in the last five years is available on the MSF website.

2 About 90% of these cases investigated by CPS involved child abuse or neglect by their parents or caregivers. The rest involved abuse by siblings or other relatives.
